Hotfix
Mac gets its battlefield back
dWars v0.5.96 · 7 September 2026
Units render and the hero moves again on Apple hardware — and shells now throw real shrapnel.
Fixed
- Mac, Chrome/WebGPU: the battlefield is back. Levels loaded but no battalion units appeared and the hero would not move. One compute shader asked for more GPU buffers than Apple hardware allows, which invalidated every frame's work — so nothing rendered and nothing moved. Windows was never affected.
Changed
- Shell and grenade blasts now throw shrapnel. A detonation used to apply damage instantly across a fixed circle. It now throws fragments that travel outward and damage what they actually hit, so cover, spacing and the moment you commit all matter more.
- Blast damage falls off with distance because fragments spread, not because of a falloff curve — a unit at the edge of a blast may take one fragment, or none.
Known issues
- Shell and grenade damage is less uniform than before. Two units at the same distance from one blast can take different damage depending on where the fragments went. Balance tuning continues.
- Desktop only — mobile browsers are still blocked at the gate.
Position beats reaction. Watch where the fragments land. — Elle
