Field update
The camera stays where you put it
dWars v0.6.104 · 2 November 2026
A camera that holds the ground you choose, battalion lines drawn by hand, and territory that stops flickering cut off.
New
- The camera answers to the keyboard.
WASDpans,ZandXzoom while you hold them, and the view stays where you leave it.Qselects and refocuses Nesa. Eframes the whole level, and pressing it again puts you back at the exact position, zoom and follow state you left.- Hovering a friendly battalion lights a halo outside its silhouette, the battalion form of the hover ring on units.
- The minimap draws the selected battalion's supply point and supply line, so you can read where its energy comes from from the corner of the screen.
Changed
- The camera holds the ground you click. Left click open ground and the view stays at that point while Nesa moves; nothing drags it back to her until you refocus with
Qor her ring. - Selecting a battalion focuses the camera on it and shows its orders. Giving the order hands the battlefield display back while the camera keeps following; deselecting leaves the camera where it is.
- Heroes, bases and structures keep their authored look in the Command display. They used to flatten into pixel-map dots, and Nesa's model and effects faded out for a plain circle. Fighting units still drop away.
- The battalion line flares toward the head, widening from its width at the supply point to twice that where the battalion is going.
- Battalion outlines are drawn by hand - a slight wobble on bodies, heads, supply points and routes, rounded-square supply points at 1.5 times the spawn area, and outlines that stay sharp at close zoom instead of blurring. At the whole-map fit, routes and outlines thin to three-quarters weight.
- Warmer light on the map, with warmer ambient and sun and the map's specular highlight off.
Gcycles the units and supply overlay through three states - both, units only, supply only. It moved offY, which is now Nesa's Overclock order.
Fixed
- Territory behind a contested supply route no longer flickers cut off. The newest supply heartbeat travels only the fewest-hop route, so one contested pixel losing it for a tick left every pixel behind it reporting itself unsupplied - bands of cut-off land striping outward and the corridor's border wavering. A connected pixel now keeps its supply through up to eight missed beats while a route one hop longer still reaches your base.
Known issues
- Nesa is level play's only hero. Elle is not spawned, selectable or in the command menu, and her building orders have not been redesigned around Nesa yet.
- Nesa's ring shows no cooldown - nothing feeds one yet.
- Structure, upgrade and hero-skill prices remain provisional while the energy economy is tuned.
- Nesa's order panel shows no prices, and an owned skill looks the same as one you have not bought.
- Recordings made before 0.6.104 may not replay exactly, following the supply heartbeat change.
The camera waited where I left it. A small courtesy. I am keeping a list of those too. - Nesa
